Why US-Style GPA Percent Is Not Indian CGPA × 9.5
A 4.0 GPA is a different object from a 10-point CGPA. Applying × 9.5 to a 3.6/4.0 GPA produces a nonsensical figure. Scale must match the transcript.
On a 4.0 scale, some forms want linear percent (GPA ÷ 4 × 100) and others still mention GPA × 25. This page offers both for 4.0 only, and linear mapping for 5.0 and 10.0.
How Hemiley Maps GPA to Percent
Linear mode computes (GPA ÷ selected scale) × 100 and rejects GPA above the scale. Times-25 is offered only for the 4.0 scale.
The result is a planning percent, not a credential-evaluation (WES, ECE) outcome.
Key Benefits
Three common scales
4.0, 5.0, and 10.0.
Linear option
Proportional mapping to 100%.
× 25 on 4.0
The informal rule some forms still cite.
Scale guard
GPA cannot exceed the chosen maximum.
Distinct from CGPA × 9.5
Use the CGPA converter for 10-point Indian CGPA.
Private
GPA stays on device.

How to Use This Tool in 3 Steps
- 1
Enter GPA and pick 4.0, 5.0, or 10.0.
Match the transcript header.
- 2
Choose linear or × 25 (4.0 only).
Prefer the employer’s stated rule.
- 3
Read percent.
Do not treat it as a WES result.
Common Use Cases
- Convert 3.7/4.0 linearly for a scholarship percent box.
- Apply × 25 when a legacy form still lists that rule.
- Map 4.2/5.0 linearly.
- Map 8.1/10 linearly without using 9.5.
- Contrast with CGPA × 9.5 for Indian marksheets.
- Prepare talking points for a transcript footnote.
